Brukunga Stobie Pole Art Project
The Brukunga Community Association has been awarded a grant to create several artworks for the stobie poles along Pyrites Road.
This project has a few different elements, and currently our facilitator, trained Illustrator and art teacher Naomi from Wonkie Knee Art is guiding the fortnightly Brukunga Art Group through the design process. The group will be working on a hero pole in the centre of town, and will begin painting shortly.
The Brukunga Art Group would like to invite the community from Brukunga and the surrounding areas to assist us with the stobie pole project. The Brukunga Art group runs fortnightly on a Monday, except during school holidays in which we will be offering Saturday sessions for the wider community, including 12 years and older.
(Please Note: we have limited places for 12-17 year olds. Please apply to our Brukunga Youth – Show us your art program here.)
The art group meets in the Brukunga hall from 10am to 1pm. Art skills are not a requirement, just a can do attitude and a desire to help beautify the Main St our little town.
Session times:
Monday 13th, 27th May, 10th, 24th June
Saturday 6th, 20th July
Monday 5th, 19th August, 2nd, 16th September
Saturday 28th September, 5th, 12th October (INSTALL DAY)
Be aware you will be joining a program that is running over a 28 week time frame, it is a community project in which all participants will be working to create, designs, paint, and install the artworks on the stobie poles. All sessions are open to the community to participate, as a team to complete this project.
Naomi from Wonkie Knee Art to guide and teach you through all things art related. She will be guiding the group through the design process, drawing, painting and for the adults mosaicking of our hero pole outside the Brukunga Hall.
